Nordkapp - Rest day in Copenhagen…
Rest day, kind of anyhow. It’s been mostly a day roaming the city centre, stocking up on food, washing all my smelly kit, oiling and waking Lancet, exchanging some cash and taking in a few sights and planning for tomorrow.Leaving the hotel this morning a poor lass went head first over the bars on her lovely Cervelo after hitting a huge step drop in the cycle lane. I ran over along with a medical student but she pretty clearly had a very cringe worthy broken wrist 😞 Lucky nothing worse as like so many here she didn’t have a helmet on which I simply can’t comprehend. While the amount of bike infastructure here is amazing, there are many parts of it in serious need for repair. The 40th Copenhagen Marathon was on today. Lots of people in the hotel were in it and add expected it is a huge deal here. I watched a bit too see if I could spot any diabetic runners or and D charities I could recognise but none jumped out. It was a seriously hot day and watching the Danish army medics getting people back on their feet in the heat and running along with them on full kit and packs was a good display by themselves. I was burning off just wondering around let alone running in this heat (not like I can run anyhow). So tomorrow… it’s a little open at the moment as I’m not necessarily riding far (20km or so). You’ll probably be wondering why but that’ll hopefully all come about tomorrow, but it’s very location specific… finger’s crossed it pans out as planned…
